September 9th meeting minutes for KMHC
Opening:
The meeting was called to order at 1:35 PM.
A thank you was extended to Sharyn and Bill Knecht for inviting us into their
home.
Minutes were read by Sandy Gambuti.
Treasurer's Report;
In Kathy LaFrana's absence Ken Mott read the Treasurer's report. A copy of the treasurer's report is available upon request to members in good standing.
KMHC currently has 61 paid members.
There was a question as to the current paid members, accepting of the minutes
and the Treasurer's report was postponed until this question could be answered.
Old Business:
Hambletonian Parade: Sandy Lapp reported that all of the KMHC members who attended the Hambletonian Parade had a good time and
would like to participate again next year.
The feed back from Connie said:
Let me say it in two words: "THE BEST". Your group got more positive attention and great comments than all our other equine participants combined. As you know, most people have never seen miniature horses, confusing them with ponies. So many of our spectators called the Rutherford Downtown Partnership to comment on
the "little horses" and how much their children loved seeing them post-parade.
We would LOVE to have you next year and thank you tremendously for the time and effort your wonderful crew put in to bring
these great horses.
It was an enriching
and educational experience for all of us involved in the Parade management and we will hopefully see you next year."
Ken and Linda Mott,
Erin KcKeon and her sister Kim, had set up petting corrals and also handed out many brochures post parade which was a big
success.
Next year the Hambletonian
Parade will be held on July 26, 2008.
Christmas Breakfast; KHMC Christmas Breakfast will be held
at Cherry's Restaurant on December 2nd at 10:30 AM.
KMHC Insurance questions: Our current insurance agent stated
that we pay up front for each event we participate in during the year, if we add events then there is an additional charge.
Sandy Lapp is going
to call several different insurance agents and get price quotes from them.
Journal Advertising: Kathy Ballantine questioned as to why
we are not advertising in every issue of the Journal which is published 6 times a year.
She volunteered to follow up with the members who had advertised in our maiden ad to see if they would be interested
in doing it again.
Small Farm Expo: This year the Small Farm Expo is being held
in New Paltz, NY and many of the members who have attended this affair in the past feel that it is too far to travel to.
Karthy Ballantine will
be the organizer for this affair, any interested members please contact her at:
Joy of My Life Farm
P.O. Box B
Newfoundland,
PA. 18445
570-676-4202 570-676-3766 (fax – call first).
AMHR Convention November 7th thru 10th: Kelly Anderson and
Kathy LaFrana have volunteered to attend this function. Sandy Gambuti and Kathy Ballantine are tentative attendants.
Membership Application paper: Jodi Knecht has checked into
possibly changing the back ground of our application form. She had not found
anything suitable as yet. A suggestion was made that we buy sheets with already
printed backgrounds, much like the writing paper we see in PaperDirect etc. that we could just print our applications on.
New Business:
Fall Fun Show: Will be held on October 28th, 2007 beginning
at 9:00 AM at the Hickory Valley stables located on Route 209 in Lehighton, PA. Bill Eperthener has agreed to be the
judge for this show, Karen Freeborn has volunteered to contact Bill Eperthener to work out the details.
For show information, contact Kelly Anderson at
hamhf@comcast.net or (267) 446-2880.
There was a discussion pertaining to changing the
order of the classes. Kelly agreed changes can be made, however she needs more
information as to the time necessary between classes before she can make any changes.
A discussion was held involving non-member children
at the fun show, these children were fondly named the "barn kids". Apparently
during the spring show they were allowed to show member's horses but did not register for doing so. Kelly Anderson has volunteered to notify the owners of the barn that if any of the "barn kids" wish to
show member's horses that they must register for the classes and also participate in the covered dish lunch.
Once again the issue of people helping themselves
to our luncheon buffet before lunch time was brought up. No solutions were apparent
at this time.
Roxane Martin had sent an email questioning the
deadline date set the discounted show entry fee. Kelly stated that the date was
a typo.

The Keystone Classic : There
was a short discussion on improvements for the Classic Show which was held June 2, 2007 at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds Bloomsburg, PA . It
was determined that there is a suggestion box on the grounds during the show and that if there were any suggestions it could
be discussed at the next meeting.
A vote was taken and the general
